「北海道青少年叢書 ― 北国に光を掲げた人々 ―」ブックカバーデザインを、10年以上にわたり担当しています。

本シリーズは、北海道の開発や社会の発展に貢献した各分野の先人たちの生き方や業績を紹介する読み物として、
主に中学生・高校生を対象に毎年発行されています。各巻では、時代を切り拓いた2名の人物を取り上げ、
その思想や行動を通して、地域社会の歴史や価値観を次世代へと伝えています。

書籍は、北海道内のすべての国・公・私立中学校、高等学校、特別支援学校へ寄贈されるほか、図書館、公民館、
青少年教育施設、道、市町村教育委員会などにも広く配布され、青少年の学びを支える教育資料として活用されています。

シリーズとしての統一感を大切にしながら、各巻ごとにテーマを象徴する色彩を設定しています。
書籍を並べた際には、多彩な背表紙が連なることで、叢書の積み重ねが視覚的にも感じられる構成となっています。

歴史的人物の肖像や資料写真を軸に、若い読者にとって親しみやすく、
同時に教育資料としての品格と読みやすさを備えたデザインを心がけています。

Book cover design for the annual publication series Hokkaido Youth Book Series “People Who Brought Light to the North”, published by the Hokkaido Science and Culture Association, an educational foundation based in Hokkaido.
The cover design for this series has been developed continuously for more than a decade.

The series is published each year primarily for junior high and high school students, introducing the lives and achievements of individuals who contributed to the development of Hokkaido and the advancement of its society.
Each volume features two historical figures whose ideas and actions helped shape the region’s history and values, offering younger generations an accessible way to engage with these stories.

Books are donated to all national, public, and private junior high schools, high schools, and special education schools throughout Hokkaido. They are also distributed to libraries, community centers, youth education facilities, and local and prefectural boards of education, where they serve as educational resources supporting young readers.

While maintaining a consistent visual structure throughout the series, each volume adopts a distinctive color
that reflects its central theme. When the books are arranged together, the varied colors of the spines create
a visual sequence that reflects the accumulation of the series over time.

Centered on historical portraits and archival photographs, the design aims to be approachable for younger readers
while maintaining the clarity, dignity, and readability expected of an educational publication.
